Introducing...Donna (Tootsie215).

Also kinda introducing , Richie (Reisig) :P

Many BBOers and Bridge players know Richie Reisig, one of USA's best bridge player. Most probably don't know that he's met a wonderful woman, (we know her as tootsie215) recently, and she's now here in BBO, being very yellow, and helping newcomers. This week's introduction will mainly be about Donna - she's just a lot cuter to write about!

Donna retired in Feb this year, after 30 years in healthcare. Richie and her decided jointly that life is too short for extended periods of seperation. Carpe Diem! Now they spend summers in New Jersey (deftly avoiding hurricanes), and winters in Florida to avoid fun stuff like snow, sleet, ice, etc. In fact, they were in the midst of their annual migration this week, but still spared time for this interview. :)

Donna says she's looking forward to a winter in Florida. They've (accompanied by Sashinka, their faithful dog) moved to a lovely lake teeming with wildlife. Donna loves gardening, and is looking forward to growing her own salad and herbs. She says Richie hates green things, but maybe he'll love the pretty orchids she plants.

Donna first started learning Bridge a long time ago with her parents - Goren style. A veteran of internet Bridge, she begun her online Bridge career in World Play, then went to Zone, and finally found a home here in Bridgebase. (Yay BBO!) When she first resumed playing Bridge after a 20 year hiatus, she was extremely nervous and embarressed at little mistakes. But Richie has been a fantastic teacher, and she's now a pretty fearsome competitor.

Apart from scaring unprepared opponents * and gardening, Donna likes to read and cook. Especially cook. She loves to cook for people who love to eat! Want to know Richie Reisig's favourite dish? It's Donna's Spaghetti, hehe. Here's her lentil soup recipe. (Sorry, the spaghetti one is a trade secret.)

Lentil Soup Recipe (Makes 16 cups)

1 bag lentils (picked over)
3 cups beef broth (preferably low sodium)
4 ribs celery chopped
4 chopped carrots
1 ½ cups drained and chopped canned tomatoes
¼ cup olive oil
1 onion chopped
½ cup chopped parsley
ham or ham bone (ham bone much better if you have it)
2 cloves garlic minced
1 ½ tsp. Salt
½ tsp. black pepper
2 TBS lemon juice
½ cup freshly grated parmesean cheese (optional)
7 cups water

Combine all ingredients except lemon juice and cheese in large pot. Bring to a boil. Simmer covered for 1 – 1 ½ hours stirring and skimming froth. Remove the ham bone and return any ham to the pot. Add lemon juice. Serve with parmesean cheese and a nice crusty bread.

Here's a picture of beautiful Sashinka. **

She also has lovely pictures of her Florida island view and the orchids she planted. But to include them here may just start a stampede this winter to Sunny Florida...

* Okay, editor lied. She's very nice to opponents, but she'll still try her best to win them all!

** Sashinka, the 2nd most beautiful dog in the world...after your own dog. :)
